E-Shoot – short for 'Engagement Shoot'


Now that we have the full form clarified, what exactly is an e-shoot? An e-shoot is a future bride-and-groom photoshoot, duration ranging anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours, that is taken weeks/months/year prior to the BIG DAY. No matter how much a couple tries, the reality is that they almost always experience being overwhelmed by all the wedding planning, whether it's an intimate wedding or a big-fat one! I won't deny that, but what I CAN do is help keep their excitement level high and have something to positively remember, in their wedding planning journey.

Read along to learn about why I think an e-shoot is a must and why couples should consider it:


1. GETTING COMFY IN FRONT OF A CAMERA

It's no surprise that many couples as well as individuals feel super shy and intimidated when they have someone taking their photos, let alone someone with a huge black camera facing them LOL. I myself prefer being behind the camera instead of in front of it! But you know very well you'd want epic shots from your wedding day and one of the most prominent factors that will result in perfect photographs is YOU, duh!

Your inner feelings, whether it's comfort, shyness, joy, or euphoria - are all gonna be visible in your smile and presence. The best practice would be to...loosen up and practice being in front of the camera, especially with your partner, and an e-shoot is ideal for that!


2. MILESTONE DOCUMENTED WITH YOUR BOO

You just got engaged and your love should be celebrated! That is a massive reason good enough to be down for an e-shoot. This is also a fabulous chance to have some bomb shots of that ring b l i n g, just in case you didn't have a photographer when you were proposed! Now go ahead and get that photo dump ready for your gram ;) Yes, of course, on your wedding day you are adorned with the most gorgeous outfits, but imagine having a look at these fun early-on photos, years later, and laughing at how shy you both were initially with each other. AW!

3. PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS FOR WEDDING STATIONERY

You have a whole bunch of really cute and professional photographs that you can use for your:

  • Welcome sign
  • Save-the-date cards
  • Party/Wedding Favors
  • Wedding website/registry
  • Social Media Announcements (We're engaged! / I Said Yes / He put a ring on it!)
  • Guest Book, and so much more!

I find couples utilizing their engagement photos in so many more creative ways and ideas! I personally had used mine on our live streaming website during our wedding :') It was amazing and a lot of my virtual guests really complimented it!


4. GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

In addition to getting comfortable in front of the camera, an e-shoot also helps you create a bond with your photographer (hi!). It helps you familiarise yourselves with directions and posing terminology from the photographer, henceforth resulting in smooth sailing and avoiding any source of awkwardness on the wedding day! Every photographer is different and no two of them are the same. Each of them possesses a unique method of direction, equipment, client relationship, speed, creativity level, skillset, and so on. An e-shoot is a perfect opportunity for you to befriend your photographer because I assure you that on the wedding day, they're no less than a professional third-wheeler and a bridesmaid at the same time!



5. freeDOm OF CREATIVItY

Last but not the least, you get to have so much fun since you have the freedom to be as creative as you want and in whatever way you wish! Honestly, I always tell my couples that this is primarily for them to have a blast. You can wear what you want, pick a unique location that holds significance to only you, such as where you first met or had your first coffee, change outfits, stay at home & cook together, and whatnot. There is no right or wrong, in fact, this is how all my shoots are but an e-shoot has that extra spice and specialty because it takes place right before you say I Do. Seeing your future spouse in their natural self, having a ball, can be really heart-warming and adorable; needless to say how genuine and cuuuteee the photographs turn out!
